FAQs – Dorset Wedding Photographer - Wedding photography in Dorset and Hampshire - davejackson-photography

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?
I have been a wedding photographer for over 30 years (I started when I was very young!)

ARE YOU INSURED?
We are fully business insured, in the unlikely event something should go wrong. We always recommend you take out your own wedding insurance as well.

DO YOU HAVE BACK UP CAMERAS?
Yes we have several professional DSLR's and a wide range of fast, professional lenses.

I SEE YOU ARE IN DORSET, DO YOU COVER OTHER AREAS?
Yes, we will travel to any destination. We will keep travel costs and accommodation to the minimum possible.

WHAT ABOUT THE GROUP PHOTOS?
We recommend that you limit these to about 8-10 which will cover both sides of the family and friends. We can help you put a list of these together at the planning meeting.

HOW DO WE BOOK?
Please contact us to check availability. We are happy to meet you first, or you can book via email. We can send you our booking forms and instructions to pay the booking fee of £300.

WHAT'S INCLUDED ON THE USB / DOWNLOAD
This contains all the final edited images from the day. The files are sized at approx 14"x9" @ 300ppi.

DO I OWN COPYRIGHT OF THE IMAGES?
No, we retain copyright of all our wedding photography. We issue you a 'licence to print and show' your images for personal use. Should any of the other businesses involved in your wedding request images from you, please refer them to us where we will normally be happy to oblige.

CAN I PUT THE IMAGES ON FACEBOOK?
Yes, we include all the images at a lower resolution with our watermark on. These can be used for social media sites.

HOW LONG DO YOU KEEP THE IMAGES FOR?
The images are kept on 'active storage' for approximately 1 year from the date of your wedding. We also upload full JPEG versions as soon as possible after final editing to secure online storage.

DO WE NEED TO FEED YOU ON THE DAY?
If we attend your wedding for all day coverage, then we ask that you provide a hot meal for us during your wedding breakfast. We do not expect to sit in with your guests and are happy to sit in a lounge or bar area.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU CAN'T ATTEND MY WEDDING?
The only reason we couldn't attend would be through serious illness or an accident. We would arrange for another professional photographer of a similar standard to attend.

DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS?
We believe, our photography and the service we offer is fantastic value for money. Apart from your memories which fade over time (our images won't!), your photographs are one of the few things which will remain with you for a lifetime (and future generations). We will run seasonal promotions from time to time. Please look at our special offers page for current promotions.

HOW MANY PHOTOS DO YOU TAKE?
There is no limit to the number of images we take during our time with you. Depending on the coverage you choose, we would expect to include between 500 and 1000 images from the day after careful editing. HOW MANY PHOTOS IN OUR ALBUM?
Our standard packages include 40 pages and approximately 100 images. You are able to add more images / pages at a very reasonable cost.

DO YOU 'SPLIT UP' ON THE DAY?
No, whilst we offer 'two photographer' coverage during your wedding, we do work as a team and have developed a style based on us both working together at all times. We are occasionally asked to cover 'Groom preparations'. This may be possible with careful planning and timing if both the Bride and Groom are getting ready at the same venue. We always meet the Groom and Best Man, Ushers etc. before the ceremony for some formal and informal photos.

CAN WE USE PINTEREST TO SHOW YOU WHAT IMAGES TO TAKE AT OUR WEDDING?
We are of course happy to work with you to achieve the type of photos you would like on the day. We have over 30 years of experience and have a large repertoire of 'poses' etc. that we use. We like to think you have chosen to use us for the type of photography we do, not what other photographers have done. We are also uncomfortable with simply copying another photographer's work - this has been done to us on many occasions. When looking at other wedding photos, please bear in mind that they may be 'models' not taken during an actual wedding, and when the photographer chose a particular location / time of day for perfect weather conditions with no time limits to achieve an end result. Some images may also be heavily manipulated in Photoshop. If we end up with a 'tick list' of images to take, then this also stifles our creativity on the day and we may miss other important images that you were expecting.

if there is maybe one particular 'shot'' that you really wish for then of course if it is possible with time, weather and location permitting, we will endeavour to recreate it for you.

If you are considering booking us, or already have, please take time to look through OUR galleries and let us know if you would like us to re-create our own work for you where possible.

DO WE HAVE A SAY IN THE ALBUM DESIGN?
Once you have chosen your favourite images we will design the album and then meet with you to go through it and make any changes you require. This is normally at no extra cost, however, full page redesigns may attract additional charges.

ARE YOU ABLE TO 'SAVE THE DATE' FOR US WHILST WE MEET WITH OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS?
Unfortunately not. However, if we make an appointment to see you we will hold the date until we meet. A date is only 'secure' once we have received the booking fee of £300 from you.

WHEN AND HOW DO WE PAY THE BALANCE WE OWE YOU?
After payment of the booking fee, 50% of the balance is due 6 months before the wedding. The final balance is due 1 month before the wedding. If the wedding is within 6 months of booking then 50% of the TOTAL fee is due on booking with the remainder paid 1 month before. Payments can be made through internet banking, cheque or cash.
